چکیده
The paper presents the results of studies on burning minor actinides (MA) extracted from SNF thermal reactors in a BN-600 reactor, which uses complete set MAs instead traditional nuclear fuel types: uranium and/or plutonium. advantages such approach to MA are that long-lived waste is recycled and energy produced can be used, e.g., generate electricity. Besides, where, reactor with or MOX used for transmutation, apart “foreign” actinides, it will additionally “its own” MAs. have shown efficient only if based fast neutrons, due specific properties actinide neutron capture fission cross-sections as compared nuclides. calculation rather high rate transmutation fueled actinides.

Characteristics of Minor Actinide Transmutation in Minor Actinide Burner Reactors and Power Reactor
One of the techniques of minor actinides transmutation is to recycle these nuclides into fission reactors. Two concepts of a minor actinides burner reactor with very hard neutron energy spectrum as well as very high neutronjlux me discussed. The fuel cycle facilities for these burner reactors am assessed to discuss the technical feasibili~ of these reactors. Transmutation of minor actinide in b...
متن کاملActinide Burning in a Standard Pressurized Water Reactor
This study investigates actinide burning in a standard lattice PWR. It assumes that after the first loading of depleted uranium, plutonium and minor actinides, only the fission products are removed and only depleted uranium and the plutonium/minor actinide mixture are added. The relative concentrations of plutonium and minor actinide feed are always maintained the same as PWR discharge fuel aft...
متن کاملThe Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (sfr)
The Sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) features a closed fuel cycle for efficient conversion of fertile uranium and management of minor actinides. A full actinide-recycle fuel cycle is envisioned with two major options: One involves intermediatesized (150 to 500 MWe) sodium-cooled fast reactors with uranium-plutonium-minor-actinidezirconium metal alloy fuel, supported by a fuel cycle based on pyr...
متن کاملMinor Actinide Burning Lmfbr Core System to Enhance Safety Characteristics
A minor actinides (MAs)-burning core system is proposed for future LMFBRs. It provides high-bumup, a long cycle length and enhanced safety characteristics. MAs are transmuted in two steps. MAs are mixed into the blanket fuel only. Pu, reprocessed from discharged blanket fuel, is mixed into the core fuel of an axially heterogeneous core (AHC). Advantages of this MAbuming system include reduction...
متن کاملA New Methodology for Plutonium Homogeneity Level Determination in Sodium Fast Reactor Fresh Fuel From Uranium and Plutonium X-ray Mappings
In the framework of the Fourth Generation program, the CEA studies a new concept of Sodium Fast Reactor (SFR) named ASTRID [1]. The reference fuel chosen for the reactor starting is uranium and plutonium mixed oxides. This type of fuel had been fabricated until 1999 during the PHENIX (French SFR prototype) operation. The industrial process led to homogeneous uranium /plutonium distributions in ...
